"Happy February with full of love and to celebrate Chinese New Year!! "

Berkeley IS Camp in Khao Yai

At the beginning of May with we organised 3 – day Environmental Camp in Khao Yai for students of Berkeley International School. Starting with a tree planting activity we ended up milking a cow in the Diary Farm!

Khao Yai is our special project – we aim to restore the forest area that was recognised as UNESCO heritage site. The national park, located among mountains, has a history of poaching, encroachment, illegal logging and unsustainable agricultural practices. Therefore we find it essential to save as well as do our best to give back the nature what once used to belong to it. What is more, we run our own tree nursery there so that we can not only plant trees but also take care of them many years later.

All of that wouldn’t be possible with the continuous support from schools and companies. One of them is Berkeley – their students helped us to plant 130 trees. Apart from that, we went together to hike in the mountains and cook lunch in the forest. It was a very nice experience to listen and observe the nature, learn how to use its wealth in order to meet the needs of human beings. On the last day we visited Thai – Danish Diary farm to see how we get milk and get hands-on experience in milking a cow.

The time we had was really intense and joyful with plenty of new knowledge and skills. We hope that the students enjoyed as much as we did and that we see each other next year!
