Mangrove Tree Planting with Thai-Chinese International School

Location: Bang Pu Recreation Centre , Thailand
Date: 14th November 2014
No. of trees planted: 200 Trees

On Friday 14th PATT met a group of 63 TCIS students down at the protected mangrove forests in Bang Pu. We took the students on a nature walk around the area, teaching them about the trees, the salty water, the birds and the role of mangrove ecosystems in carbon capture and storm protection.

We then took the plunge into the murky water and the students proceeded to dig holes with their feet and plant the young mangrove seedlings in the mud. By working together they helped each other navigate the slippy mud, and every child had a fun time splashing around while trying to help rebuild the mangrove forests. A total of 200 trees were planted by the TCIS students, getting us that much closer to our target of 1,000,000 trees.
