"Happy February with full of love and to celebrate Chinese New Year!! "

PATT and Bangkok Patana School in Khao Yai vol. 6

On the 2nd February 2012 year 5 students from Bangkok Patana School (BPS) joined PATT staff  in our Khao Yai nursery during their residential trip to the National Park.

The students were tired after long and exiting week but they managed to have just enough enthusiasm to learn something new and go for a little hike on our natural trail. This time there was not one but 2 classes present which meant division into two groups. First group went for a little hike around the natural trail while the second group stayed in the nursery. On the natural trail the students will be shown an example of how not plant trees as well as some beautiful old trees. The trees which the students like the most are the spiky woody climbers and the amazing fig trees. This week we had only 6 correct answers on the question – How many fig trees are there on the trail? – the correct answer is 6.

The group which stayed in the nursery were shown how to pot seeds and carefully take it out from the tray and put the baby trees into bigger bags with more soil. Each student was given 3 trees to pot.

The groups changed and after some more hiking had a tasty lunch.

After the lunch and well earned rest, the students joined the PATT staff to plant actual trees in a deforested area of Khao Yai National Park each student got to plant 3 trees.
