About PATT

Plant a Tree Today (PATT) Foundation works to raise awareness of global environmental issues, campaign for better environmental practices and take action against deforestation and climate change by planting trees. Our work aims to:

  • campaign for better environmental practices
  • take action against climate change
  • implement tree planting projects as well as provide funding for partner planting projects
  • set up school tree nurseries and provide environmental education
  • fund community development projects in rural communities centered on tree planting and reforestation
  • provide environmental consultancy services

PATT was founded in 2005 and is a UK Registered Charity and Thai Foundation. PATT has operational offices in Bangkok, Thailand and Indonesia with representatives in Malaysia, India and South Africa.

About the Position

Working in close collaboration with the Senior Project Manager of the PATT Six Senses Reforestation Program in Sri Lanna National Thailand, the Project Manager will provide one-on-one mentoring and technical support to staff and village communities involved in the project and oversee all aspects of the reforestation component of the project.

The Project Manager will provide comprehensive support to the team members, implementation, and evaluation of all reforestation activity. This includes the running of a seed bank and nursery as well as instructing staff on conservation, leadership, project management, and community engagement; financial management of program.

Areas of Responsibility

The Project Manager’s main responsibility will be to support the Six Senses/PATT reforestation project

Duties include:

  • Oversee junior team members
  • Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the donor organization and Carbon fix standard requirements
  • Be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of project deliverables, lead project planning, budgeting, action plans and monitoring processes.
  • Be responsible for submitting weekly, monthly and progress reports
  • Lead and motivate the project team and monitor project activities and project expenditure and coordinate work with project collaborators
  • Ensure close collaboration and coordination with cooperating partners to guarantee smooth implementation of activities and achievement of results as specified in grant agreements.
  • Employ resourcefulness in project design, implementation and monitoring. Troubleshoot project problems. Identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support
  • Manage relationships with local partners, ensuring that PATT’s priorities of capacity building, constituency building, and conservation are met. This includes communicating regularly with senior members of the partner organization, and resolving any discrepancies or conflicts.
  • Work as part of a team to review and provide coordinated feedback To the Country Manager on project plans and reports.
  • Communicate monthly activities and progress, financial status and final outcomes of each program.
  • * Work diligently to constantly improve our processes and project procedures.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree preferably a background in Forestry or Natural Resources Management or environmental management
  • Strong understanding of conservation, environment and/or biodiversity issues, particularly in Thailand and Southeast Asia
  • An understanding of the carbon forestry market and associated International accreditation schemes
  • 5 years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years of working experience in reforestation
  • Fluency in written and spoken Thai is preferable however not a necessity and English
  • Experience in grassroots conservation/community development project is preferable.
  • Program planning and management skills.
  • Experience using relevant software (MS Office), databases, graphics software
  • Strong understanding of diversity and other cultures
  • Ability to thrive in team environments and build relationships over long distances
  • Experience in basic principles of mentoring and coaching and skill in implementing those principles in work with internal and external partners
